Dark fantasy meets cozy kitchen magic.
If you loved wandering through the mist-soaked forests, whispering magic, and gothic charm of Rachel Gillig’s Two Twisted Crowns, this enchanted kitchen moment is for you.
In honor of my November TBR and my full review of Two Twisted Crowns, I’m stepping straight into Blunder’s shadowed world with a rustic rosemary skillet bread and a warm spiced mulled wine — a meal fit for cursed royals, witches in hiding, and brave readers who dare to venture into the fog.
This post is part of my November Reading Lineup: Dark Fantasy, Haunting Worlds & Unforgettable Characters — a monthly series where I bring each book to life through themed recipes, book club ideas, and immersive world-building you can taste.

Rosemary Skillet Bread — A Rustic Loaf for a Cursed Kingdom
Why This Dish?
Blunder feels wild, ancient, and a bit haunted — and I wanted a recipe that could come from a flickering cottage hearth or candlelit castle hall. This bread is earthy and herb-forward, like something gathered from forest gardens and baked in cast iron.
It’s simple, cozy, and deeply comforting — the perfect companion to a story about nightmares, prophecy, and choosing hope in the dark.
Ingredients
Yields 1 skillet loaf
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp butter (for skillet)
- Flaky salt for topping

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat cast iron skillet in oven with butter until sizzling.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sea salt, and rosemary.
- Add warm water, olive oil, and honey — stir until just combined.
- Pour dough into hot buttered skillet.
- Drizzle a touch more honey + sprinkle rosemary + flaky salt.
- Bake 22–26 minutes until golden and crisp on edges.
- Let rest 10 minutes (trust me — the magic happens here).
Serve warm with salted butter or a drizzle of honey.

Soft inside, crisp outside, herbal, golden — a loaf worthy of a queen.
Firelight Mulled Wine — A Drink to Keep Shadows at Bay
Warm spice, deep berry notes, and a little magic in every sip. Close your eyes and imagine goblets glowing like embers as magic hums in the air.

Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine
- 1 cup apple cider
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 orange, sliced
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 star anise
- Splash of brandy (optional)
- Fresh rosemary sprig (garnish)
Instructions
- Add wine, cider, honey, fruit, and spices to a pot.
- Warm on low heat (do not boil — we keep the magic intact).
- Simmer 20–30 minutes.
- Pour into mugs or goblets, garnish with rosemary.

Serve by candlelight for maximum fantasy enchantment.
